Fakenham Racecourse
Fakenham is a small, rural course that holds eight National Hunt meetings a year. A sharp, left-handed track, this course definitely suits the nippy sorts that are sufficiently nimble to deal with corners and bends. A very popular venue with the locals, particularly the Bank Holiday fixture in April which attracts a decent-sized crowd. The going rarely turns heavy.
The first meeting in 1905 at Fakenham Racecourse attracted 37 runners with a hurdle race introduced in 1926 as the steeplechase races had dwindled in numbers. As with many courses, racing at Fakenham was suspended in 1935 to 1945 due to World War II and resumed in 1947.
Racing in West Norfolk had always been honoured with Royal patronage. Commencing at East Winch with The Prince of Wales later King Edward VII, through to Her Majesty the Queen who was Patron for almost fifty years before handing over the reins to HRH The Prince of Wales on January 1st 2000.
Fakenham Racecourse is located in Fakenham, Norfolk.

Restaurant With A View

The Queen Mother, often described as National Hunt’s most fervent, enthusiastic and loyal supporter, visited Fakenham racecourse in January 2000.
