Fontwell Park Racecourse

An extremely popular National Hunt track with more than a modicum of charm, Fontwell is one of only two racecourses run over a figure-of-eight circuit. Total refurbishment of all grandstands began in 1998 resulting in vastly improved facilities for racegoers. Although the racing lacks true quality, the friendly atmosphere and South-East coast weather more than compensate.

The key fence on the steeplechase course is the plain obstacle opposite the stands at the beginning of the back straight; the fence has a slight drop to it and horses often quicken on the approach.

Fontwell Park Racecourse also has an oval, left-handed hurdles course. It hosts the valuable National Spirit Hurdle – won by Baracouda in 2003 – in February.

Fontwell Park Racecourse is located near Arundel, West Sussex.
