Ascot is to racing what Wembley is to football, a spiritual home. Founded in 1711 by Queen Anne, Ascot and Royalty seem to go hand in hand. The five day Royal meeting in June is one of the world's most impressive sporting events. The Royal meeting attracts worldwide attention not just from the racing fraternity but also from the fashion world. Ladies day at Ascot is a spectacular array of colourful outfits and hats, ranging from catwalk chic to interesting and obscure. Men are still required to wear traditional morning suits in the Royal enclosure and in the private boxes, even turning up with the wrong coloured top hat is seen as a faux pas and may lead to you being refused admission!

Ascot holds an impressive array of group one races during the year, notably the Queen Mary Stakes, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle, the Ascot Hurdle and the Victor Chandler Chase. Ascot holds both flat and National Hunt races. Ascot boasts impressive facilities having recently spent £200 million on redeveloping the course and grand stand.

Ascot Racecourse is located in the village of Ascot, Berkshire approximately six miles from Windor Castle. Ascot is owned by the Crown Estates, which basically means the Queen owns it!
